Friday 7th August 2026
Everything is disposable these days. We consume a piece of art or entertainment, we move on.
I’d like to write books that stay with people. Books that feel like forgotten classics. Books that were missed from the cultural canon but feel at home there. Books that feel like they were always meant to be written. I dream of filling the gaps of the literary map, charting new territory while tethered to the greats.
I never want to be fusty or difficult. Nor do I want to be easy. So many books are masterfully written yet they fail to set us on fire because they lack something. Something almost impossible to describe. Something fundamental. Something universal.
When I think of the greatest books ever written, I see books that are profound and delightful.
Deep and full of wonder.
Literary and iconic.
We often think we can’t have both. It’s art or it’s entertainment.
But we can have both. I can feel it.
And like Ahab with his white whale, I’ll die pursuing it.
